Cambodia and South Korea have made significant progress in combating cross-border crime, with more than 130 suspects linked to telecom fraud arrested within two months under their joint task force.

On the evening of February 13, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised the joint team’s achievements, especially in tackling online scams. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to cracking down on telecom fraud and human trafficking while strengthening intelligence sharing and coordinated law enforcement.

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung also issued a statement, noting that the bilateral task force has delivered early results since becoming operational.

Lee said the mechanism was established following key agreements between him and Hun Manet. Since then, law enforcement agencies from both countries have worked closely on intelligence exchange, investigations, and arrests, delivering a strong blow to cross-border scam networks.

He credited the success to Cambodia’s political determination and the efficient cooperation between Korean and Cambodian police, thanking frontline officers for their professional contributions.

Lee added that South Korea will continue deepening cooperation with Cambodia to combat transnational crime and help ensure a safer and more stable environment for both societies.
