On May 5, Cambodia’s Acting Head of State Hun Sen delivered a message for the Royal Ploughing Ceremony, extending his wishes for health and prosperity to all citizens. He stated that during this traditional festival, he hopes all families enjoy happiness and success while welcoming the start of a new agricultural season. Authorities also announced that the 2026 ceremony scheduled in Prey Veng province was canceled due to King Norodom Sihamoni’s health condition. The Royal Ploughing Ceremony is an important national tradition symbolizing the arrival of the rainy season and the beginning of agricultural activities. One of the most notable rituals is the sacred ox prediction, where oxen choose offerings to forecast crop yields and weather conditions for the year. The ceremony reflects the country’s agricultural heritage and the public’s hopes for favorable weather and a good harvest. In 2025, the ceremony was personally presided over by King Sihamoni, marking the official start of the farming season. Post navigation Cambodia to Lose $47 Million Monthly to Offset Rising Fuel Prices
