On February 12, 2026, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn met with Alan Bowman, Director General for Southeast Asia and Oceania at Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his working visit for the second Cambodia–Canada bilateral consultation.

Prak Sokhonn welcomed Bowman and noted the positive momentum in bilateral relations. He praised the success of the first consultation and expressed hope for further progress in the second round, while thanking Canada for supporting Cambodia’s hosting of the 2026 Francophonie Summit and briefing him on preparation updates.

Bowman voiced strong confidence that the second consultation would deepen cooperation. He reaffirmed Canada’s support for Cambodia as summit host, confirmed senior Canadian leaders’ participation in Phnom Penh, and said Canada is ready to assist using its experience from organizing major international summits.

Prak Sokhonn also briefed Bowman on recent developments along the Cambodia–Thailand border and thanked Canada for supporting peace efforts related to the dispute.
