The Taipei City Government announced that a large-scale public security drill will be conducted at Taipei Main Station on Wednesday afternoon as part of efforts to strengthen emergency response capabilities.

During the exercise, residents in areas surrounding the station may receive mobile alert messages indicating a “major public security incident.” Officials stressed that the alerts are part of a planned drill and urged the public not to panic.

The drill is scheduled to take place between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will simulate responses to serious security threats. Emergency alert messages will be sent to help familiarize the public with evacuation and safety procedures during critical situations.

Authorities noted that all alerts will be clearly labeled as “Drill” and identified as issued by the Taipei City Government. The messages will advise people to remain calm, seek nearby shelter, and avoid gathering at the scene.

Officials emphasized that anyone receiving the alert should simply follow instructions from on-site personnel and law enforcement officers. The city said recent security incidents have highlighted the importance of public preparedness, prompting Taipei to expand training exercises and strengthen coordination with neighboring regions.
