On March 4, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced during the 2026 ASEAN–Cambodia Business Summit that the government will upgrade its policy against online scams from “containment and suppression” to a strategy aimed at completely eliminating scam operations. The goal is to remove all scam-related locations in Cambodia by April 2026.

Hun Manet said the move is intended to improve the country’s investment environment, strengthen the rule of law, and enhance Cambodia’s international reputation. Stronger enforcement will be implemented to ensure a safer and more reliable business climate

He also noted that Cambodia continues to attract investors due to its political stability, solid economic foundation, open market opportunities, and ongoing legal reforms.

The government plans to strengthen regulatory systems and law enforcement to maintain a secure and transparent business environment while eliminating illegal activities related to online fraud.
