Taiwanese influencer Chen Neng-chuan, known as “Goodnight Chicken,” who was previously sentenced in Cambodia for staging a fake kidnapping, was arrested upon returning to Taiwan on March 19.

Police confirmed that he was already wanted in another case in Taiwan, and officers were waiting at the airport to detain him immediately after landing.

After his return, he posted on social media saying he had been away from Taiwan for 766 days and had spent 36 days in detention and immigration procedures before being able to return.

He claimed that the public only knows part of the story and that the full situation is more complicated, while also apologizing to his supporters. He further stated that he suffered financial losses of about NT$13 million over the past two years.

However, some netizens questioned whether his post was intended to gain sympathy, urging the public to view his statements critically.

The case dates back to February 2024, when he and a friend filmed and spread a fake kidnapping video in Sihanoukville, causing public concern. They were later arrested and sentenced to two years in prison.

Cambodian authorities emphasized at the time that all individuals, regardless of nationality, must face legal consequences for their actions.
