Subzero-10°C Air Mass May Hit Taiwan? Forecast Suggests Plains Could Drop Near 0°C

Taiwan weather page “Observing Weather” reported on January 29 that, according to the latest U.S. weather forecast models, Taiwan could experience extremely low temperatures on February 9, with lowland areas possibly approaching 0°C.

The forecast indicates that around 8:00 a.m. on February 9, a -10°C air mass at approximately 1,500 meters altitude may move southward and reach northern Taiwan. Under such conditions, surface temperatures could fall to unusually low levels.

The page warned that the intensity of this cold surge could be stronger than the historic 2016 cold wave, often referred to as the “Super Cold Surge.” However, meteorologists emphasized that forecasts may still change, and further observation is required as the date approaches.
