The Taiwan Lottery has gone 28 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner. Tonight’s draw (Feb 5) is expected to reach NT$970 million, approximately USD 32 million, driving a noticeable surge in ticket sales nationwide. Lottery retailers reported that customer traffic has doubled recently, with most buyers choosing package bets. Small purchases of NT$100–200 have dropped significantly. The most popular option is the NT$800 package, which fully covers numbers 1 through 8 in the second zone, meaning players only need to match six numbers in the first zone. Computer-generated selections rank second, while the NT$5,600 package—covering seven numbers in the first zone plus full second-zone coverage—also attracts many buyers. The Taiwan Lottery uses a two-zone system: players select six numbers from 01 to 38 in Zone 1 and one number from 01 to 08 in Zone 2. Matching both zones qualifies for a prize. Since no jackpot was claimed on February 2, the rollover has reached 28 rounds. If a single ticket wins tonight, it will become the third-highest jackpot of the current lottery cycle. Shop owners said most customers now spend at least NT$500 to NT$1,000 per visit. Those planning to spend NT$1,000 are often advised to choose the NT$800 package instead. With Lunar New Year approaching, scratch-off ticket sales are also rising.
