U.S. stock markets experienced mixed performance today. While most Wall Street stocks edged higher, chipmaker Nvidia recorded its largest single-day decline since last spring, putting pressure on technology shares and major indexes.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose slightly by 17.05 points, or 0.03%, closing at 49,499.20.

The S&P 500 fell 37.27 points, or 0.54%, ending at 6,908.86.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 273.70 points, or 1.18%, to close at 22,878.38.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index declined 270.17 points, or 3.19%, finishing at 8,197.26. Analysts noted that weakness in semiconductor stocks contributed significantly to the broader market decline.
