To celebrate the upcoming Khmer New Year, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia is organizing a large-scale festival in Phnom Penh, extending activities across multiple key locations to create a festive atmosphere. The celebration will cover major areas including Wat Phnom, the riverside walking street, the area from Anda Tower Park to the night market, as well as Basa Street and Chbar Ampov market, aiming to attract both residents and tourists. On March 19, Deputy Prime Minister and UYFC President Hun Many stated that similar three-day celebrations will also be held in refugee camps in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap provinces from March 29 to 31, with performances by artists and entertainers. Observers believe the event will help showcase and preserve Khmer cultural traditions, encourage social interaction, and boost tourism in Phnom Penh.
