On March 6, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that during the upcoming Khmer New Year holiday, the former Phnom Penh International Airport will be temporarily opened to the public free of charge for walking, exercise, and leisure activities. Hun Manet said the government has instructed relevant authorities to organize the former airport area and provide public space during the New Year holiday for residents who remain in Phnom Penh. He added that after the airport stopped flight operations, the government plans to gradually transform the old airport site into a public recreational space for families and young people. According to official information, the former Phnom Penh International Airport stopped flight operations on September 9, 2025. After the opening of Techo International Airport, all flights were transferred to the new airport.
