A joint operation involving police and military police was carried out today in central Phnom Penh, where authorities conducted document inspections on foreign nationals.

According to witnesses at the scene, officers primarily checked passports and legal residence documents of Chinese and other foreign nationals to verify immigration status and screen for potential illegal entry, overstaying, or involvement in scam-related activities.

Multiple uniformed officers were seen setting up checkpoints along the street. Tuk-tuk and motorcycle drivers were asked to present identification documents. Traffic slowed temporarily, but no major incidents were reported.

As of now, no official statement has been released. Observers believe the operation may be part of broader efforts to combat illegal immigration and transnational scam operations.
