Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin reaffirmed China’s firm support for Cambodia’s ongoing crackdown on telecom and online scams. On the afternoon of February 7, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha met with Ambassador Wang in Phnom Penh. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on combating telecom fraud. After the meeting, Wang said he was pleased to hold constructive discussions with Sar Sokha, praised Cambodia’s recent strong measures, and reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Cambodia in eliminating scam-related crimes. Authorities said that since early 2026, Cambodian law enforcement has shut down 190 suspected scam locations and arrested 2,508 suspects. Under sustained pressure, several scam sites dissolved on their own, while a total of 110,095 foreign nationals left the country during the operation.
