A sudden leap from her dog led to an unusual accident for 28-year-old Belgian woman Reymy Amelinckx, who accidentally swallowed a 17-centimeter spoon while eating yogurt at home.

She was sitting on the couch enjoying yogurt and held the spoon in her mouth to free her hands for texting. At that moment, her Hungarian Vizsla named Marley jumped onto her, causing her head to jerk backward. The spoon became lodged in her throat, and with no safe way to remove it, she had no choice but to swallow it.

Embarrassed, she initially hid the incident from her boyfriend. After dinner, she realized the seriousness of the situation and sought medical help. Doctors explained that the spoon was too large to pass naturally and scheduled a gastroscopy. That night, she could feel the spoon shifting inside her body, pressing near her ribs, leaving her bloated, nauseous, and unable to eat or sleep.

Two days later, doctors removed the spoon through an endoscopic procedure under local anesthesia. The process caused minor stomach bleeding, and she experienced throat soreness and digestive discomfort afterward, but no permanent damage. She returned to work the next day.

She now keeps the spoon as a keepsake, with her boyfriend planning to turn it into an art piece. She also warns fellow dog owners not to hold utensils in their mouths while using their phones.
