Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation lodged a strong protest on February 4 over recent actions by Thai forces along the border.

According to Cambodian officials, Thai troops deployed three containers on February 3 in the An Ses area of Preah Vihear Province, blocking access to the An Ses international border crossing. Cambodia stated that the move violated its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and could destabilize local security, creating new tensions.

The ministry warned that such actions undermine efforts to ease border tensions, threaten civilian safety, disrupt residents returning home, and pose risks to property. Cambodia firmly opposes any measure perceived as strengthening control over Cambodian territory.

Officials added that the deployment contradicts agreements reached during the third Cambodia–Thailand Joint Boundary Commission special meeting on December 27, 2025, and is inconsistent with the principles of the UN Charter and ASEAN Charter.

Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to resolving border issues peacefully under international law with Thailand and neighboring countries, stressing that no party should attempt to alter established borders through force.
