According to Cambodian media reports, on the morning of January 21, Prime Minister Hun Manet chaired a national-level meeting on combating online scams. The meeting reviewed the progress of current enforcement measures and outlined directions for the next phase of continued operations.

Details of the meeting have not yet been publicly released.

On February 20, 2025, the Cambodian government officially established the National Committee for Combating Online Scams, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet. The committee coordinates law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities to strengthen actions against online scam-related activities.

Official data indicates that from the second half of 2025 to the end of the year, special operations were carried out across 18 provinces and cities at 118 key locations. A total of 4,983 suspects of various nationalities were detained, and 4,039 foreign nationals residing illegally were deported. In addition, 168 individuals were convicted in 35 major cases in accordance with the law.

Between January 1 and January 16, 2026, police conducted investigations at 14 locations in Phnom Penh, Battambang, and Siem Reap, arresting 162 suspects from multiple countries. During the same period, deportation and judicial procedures continued in accordance with legal processes.
