On February 20, Cambodian Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation Hay Vannak announced that clean water coverage in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City has reached approximately 92%, with nearly three million residents benefiting. As demand for clean water continues to rise, daily production capacity must exceed one million cubic meters to meet public needs. The water supply network in the two cities has expanded by nearly 400 kilometers, with daily capacity already surpassing one million cubic meters. The ministry aims to achieve 100% clean water coverage by 2028. Measures include selling bulk water to economically promising areas, reviewing third-party service providers, and reducing non-revenue water rates. The minister noted that every 1% reduction in non-revenue water equates to an additional $1 million in revenue. During the event, the water authority officially launched the “PPWSA Mobile App” to modernize customer services, allowing users to monitor consumption and pay bills via mobile phones. A memorandum of understanding was also signed with private operators to expand bulk water supply distribution.
